Gallery 412 of the Florence Regional Arts Alliance will open "News Works by Jack Dowis" from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 4. The show includes 48 works completed by the artist since January of 2010 and offers art lovers a rare opportunity to enjoy so large and diverse a grouping of works by Dowis en masse. A retired architect, Dowis has had an avocational interest in drawing and painting for most of his adult life. In addition to exhibiting in groups shows and one-artist shows, he is a regular contributor to competitive exhibitions and has won a significant number of awards. In addition, Dowis has devoted much of the last 50 years to concerted efforts with respec to the advancement of the arts in his community, region, and state. He was instrumental in the founding ad organization of the Florence Area Arts Council. He is an Honorary Trustee of the Florence Museum and served from 1960 to 1970 and again from 1972 to 1975 as President of the Museum and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. When the South Carolina Arts Commission was organized in 1967, he was one of the orginial commissioners appointed by Govenor John C. West, and he served three years as Chairman of the Selection Committee for the State Arts Commission.
The Florence Regional Arts Alliance is the "chamber of commerce" for artists, arts organizations, school arts teachers, and school arts programs in the City of Florence and Florence County, South Carolina. The Arts Alliance is committed to preserving, supporting, and promoting a vibrant arts community by providing grants; recognizing students, individuals, and businesses; offering community programming that showcases the arts; and serving as an advocate for the arts.

Concerts In The Park To Present 12 Percent
The Florence Regional Arts Alliance Honda of South Carolina Concerts In The Park will present 12 Percent from 3:00 until 4:30 pm on Sunday, November 7 in the Main Gallery of the Florence Museum at 558 Spruce Street. 12 Percent is are performers who aim to please. The acoustic trio pull from a vast catalog of cover tunes and styles. Wherever they perform, they bring down the house. The Name "12 Present" stems from an idea Rob Bispo had to take Jason Hill's solo act and broaden it. When the solo act was broadened, "12 Percent" was born. Members include Jason Hill, lead vocals and guitar; Rob Bispo, bass and vocals; and Phil Miller, drums and vocals. Together the three performers have over 40 years of playing experience. And that experience is guaranteed to get a crowd really going!

Gallery 412 To Open October Show featuring Uschi Jeffcoat, Mollie Jerr Ludlam, and Minnemie Murphy
From 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, October 7, Gallery 412 of the Florence Regional Arts Alliance will open a month-long show featuring the works of Uschi Jeffcoat, Molly Jerr Ludlam, and Minnemie Murphy. On display at The Arts Alliance facility at 412 South Dargan, the show features 64 works by the three talented emerging artists. There is no admission charge, so take advantage of a great opportunity to experience the quality work being created by artists from right here in the immediate community.
